Riedel's RefCam and Easy5G Make Debut at International Soccer Match

<p>WUPPERTAL, Germany - In a move, Riedel's RefCam® Live was deployed for the first time during an international soccer match, providing viewers with unique insights from the referee's perspective. This milestone follows the successful implementation of the technology during Bundesliga games in 2024 and further underscores Riedel's commitment to pushing the boundaries of live sports production.</p> <p>The friendly match between the German men's national team and Ghana took place at the Stuttgart stadium, where the RefCam was seamlessly integrated into an existing broadcast setup that included approximately 30 cameras. The goal was to enhance the viewing experience without disrupting the established production workflow.</p> <p>'During the match, the RefCam captured close-range footage of player-referee interactions, controversial game situations, and the teams' warm-ups and lineups,' said Dalton Koch, Junior Project Manager at Riedel Communications. 'This technology realizes its full potential in moments of closeness, dynamism, and emotion, making critical game situations easier to understand and more engaging for viewers.'</p> <p>The wireless signal transmission was handled by Riedel's Easy5G™ Private 5G network, which consists of an Easy5G Core and two base stations. The signal was transmitted to the TV production via SDI, ensuring a reliable and connection. Additionally, the international referee team used RefComms with Bolero S to maintain clear and reliable communication during the game.</p> <p>'Following successful deployments in various leagues and cup competitions, this international match marks an important milestone for RefCam and Easy5G,' said Jacqueline Voss, Executive Director of Strategy and Innovation at Riedel's Managed Technology Division.
