AWS re:Invent 2025 Unveils CloudFront Plus and S3 MediaStore Deep Archive for Enhanced Sports Media Delivery

Amazon Web Services (AWS) took center stage at its annual re:Invent conference in Las Vegas this week, unveiling a suite of innovative cloud solutions aimed at transforming the landscape of sports media delivery. The company's latest offerings include CloudFront Plus, designed to reduce streaming latency to just 10 milliseconds, and S3 MediaStore Deep Archive, offering ultra-low-cost storage for video archives.

CloudFront Plus: Redefining Streaming Latency in Sports

One of the most anticipated announcements was the introduction of **CloudFront Plus**, a new edge service that significantly lowers streaming latency by optimizing content distribution across AWS's global network. "With CloudFront Plus, we're bringing near real-time viewing experiences to fans, which is crucial for live sports events," said Sarah Johnson, Head of Media Solutions at AWS.

The technology leverages advanced adaptive bitrate algorithms and enhanced caching mechanisms to ensure that viewers receive the most current content with minimal delay. According to AWS data, CloudFront Plus can reduce end-to-end latency from an average of 20 milliseconds to just 10 milliseconds, making it an ideal solution for high-speed sports broadcasts.

S3 MediaStore Deep Archive: Cost-Effective Storage for Video Assets

In addition to the streaming advancements, AWS unveiled **S3 MediaStore Deep Archive**, a new storage tier within Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3) designed specifically for long-term retention of video assets. "Deep Archive is a game-changer for sports media companies that need to store large volumes of content at minimal cost," commented Michael Thompson, Senior Engineer in the AWS Media Services team.

This tier offers storage costs as low as $0.00095 per GB per month, making it highly attractive for archiving historical footage and event recordings. Furthermore, S3 MediaStore Deep Archive is fully integrated with AWS's existing media services, allowing for seamless data management and retrieval processes.

Enhancing Fan Engagement Through Technology Innovation

The latest cloud solutions from AWS are expected to significantly enhance fan engagement by providing faster access to live content and more efficient storage of video assets. "These innovations not only improve the viewing experience but also enable media companies to better manage their digital assets," added Johnson.

With CloudFront Plus and S3 MediaStore Deep Archive, AWS is solidifying its position as a leading provider of cloud services for the sports industry, empowering broadcasters and content creators to deliver high-quality experiences to global audiences.
